Threats

Today I received threatening text messages. When I replied and told the person I was going to call the cops they replied that it was a wrong text and to call the cops.
So I called the cops and changed my cell phone number.
I accidentally put my cell phone number up on my facebook a few weeks ago.
I don’t think it was anyone on my facebook, but someone I recently removed.
Anyway, the police are looking into it. I’m trying to press charges against the person. Or at least get a restraining order.
I will no longer publish my cell phone number anywhere.
I take all threats seriously, despite if you say it was not meant for me.
You’re threatening someone.
So naturally I called the police and they are investigating.
I don’t take threats to me or anyone else kindly. There are too many demented, deranged people out there.

Good luck with that. I had somebody get a hold of my blackberry once and found all my phone numbers and notes. We had to cancel my cell phone because people I knew called the number and some weirdo answered the phone for a while. I hope your police dept was more helpful than mine.
I’m so sorry you lost your blackberry and some weirdo got a hold of it. Terribly sorry.
I filed a report and I’m trying to get my Police Department to let me get a restraining order against the person, despite the fact the person said it was a wrong text. I’m not taking any chances. Besides, this person was obviously threatening someone.
you can get just about anyone’s phone number on facebook. It is absolutely amazing how many people just willing throw their number up there. heck, I did it too, and didn’t even think twice, until now.
Facebook is exactly where the person got my number. I accidentally put it up a month ago. Even though the person sending the threatening message said it was a wrong text after I said I was calling the police, I’m pretty sure it was intended for me. Now I’ll never publish my number on facebook or anywhere for that matter.
Hey Emma. Sorry to hear about those threatening calls, that’s not a nice experience!
You do have to be very careful with your personal details online. I recently found that if you google my name on page one is my home address and mobile phone number! It’s because I have domains at godaddy, and my details were all given to Whois, where they become public, you have to pay Godaddy to keep them confidential. So I have replaced them with a PO BOX and Voip number. And yeah, don’t give anything personal to facebook, when you join facebook in the terms and agreements it says that every single thing you say or enter becomes public information – even private messages and pics!
It’s so annoying having to worry about all this, but there are a lot of weird internet people out there.
(I love all these emoticons you’ve got here by the way)

Thank you so much for your support Richard. I’ve filed a report with the police and I changed my cell phone number. I haven’t been receiving any more threatening messages. YAY! hehe. I also won’t publish anything personal on facebook anymore. Big mistake I made there.
And yes there are a lot of strange, deranged people in this world. hehe
I’m glad you like the emoticons. I kind of got carried away.
Hope you’re having a great day/evening
So I called the cops and changed my cell phone number.
That’s exactly what I did
It’s now on file. So if I get threatened and harassed again, they can use the filed report. I’m leaving nothing to chance
Emma,
You are wise to file the police report. Even if this person never messes with you again BUT with somebody else it could help them end up getting a tougher sentence. Well done.
In general, love your blog and hope you keep up the solid movie reviews. On a busniess note, one of my fashion clients in Miami, FL is interested in being listed under a new category like “Fun and Cool Sites” or a category like “Fashion sites we like” etc. in your right navigation With the recession still going strong it’s great to be able to buy high end fashion & jewelry at a discount.
They can give you a small donation of $25 by PayPal in appreciation for your time to add the link. Look forward to hearing back from you & I can give you their name & url.

Thank you for stopping by and for your support. I had to file a police report, the person was threatening someone. Even though they said it wasn’t intended for me I still filed it.
As for including one of your fashion clients to my site, I’d have to see their sites first. And I don’t use paypal, but I guess I can make one. Have to figure that out. I don’t see a problem with adding some fashion sites to my site. This was supposed to be a fashion blog, but I got sidetracked.
Just leave me your email address so I can contact you and we can discuss this
